Asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and produce extra mucus. This can make breathing difficult and trigger coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. The severity of asthma is wide ranging. For some people, asthma is a minor nuisance and for others it is a life threatening condition.
We often hear that some children get "Exercise Induced Asthma" or only get "winded" when they run. This is still asthma. Among people with asthma, exercise is likely just one of several factors that can induce breathing difficulties.
While there is no cure for asthma, there are many great ways to control the inflammation in the lungs and make breathing easier for kids. We are always looking for new treatments to help our children overcome the obstacles that this lung condition can present.
